One Year Ago I Got So Close to My Dream Job With the Denver Broncos

I'm usually not one for living in the past, and always try to look to do things to make a better future. However, today I find myself reminiscing a little back to last summer about the craziest thing I have ever been a part of.

It was one year ago this week that I ventured down to Denver for an interview with the Denver Broncos. It was the job I had dreamed about having since I was a little boy... The in stadium voice, or PA announcer at Mile High Stadium.

Long story short, the longtime voice, Alan Roach, left the team to go to his hometown team, the Minnesota Vikings. The Broncos got thousands of emails and demos from people interested in the job, and somehow I lucked out and was chosen as one of the final four candidates for the job.

This was one of the actual emails I got congratulating me on becoming a finalist...

Over the course of the weeks leading up to the interview, the outpouring of love and well wishes was overwhelming. It sent me into what I consider the biggest day of my life with a ton of confidence.

The interview consisted of two parts, an audition inside of Mile High Stadium talking on the mic like I would during an actual game, and also an informal interview with some of the Broncos higher ups. I felt like I left nothing on the table, and walked out of the stadium that day knowing that I had just won the rights to my dream job.

Sadly, about a week later the Broncos called and informed me they went with a guy who had been with the team for years. Obviously I was rather heartbroken, but I got to go to some games this last season, and I will say, they made a great choice and he does an awesome job. I am certainly not bitter about their choice.

As a matter of fact, I still thank my lucky stars regularly for giving me the opportunity last summer. I met so many amazing people because of it, got to see just how many people cared about me and root for me, and had an experience for the ages, one that I will never forget.

I am still hopeful and confident that someday I will have the chance to live my dream. But no matter what, I will be be forever thankful for the amazing ride got I go on last summer, and I am forever in debt to those who supported me along the way!
