If you found yourself with a few weeks off from your job, how would you spend your time? A Colorado woman used hers to pick up trash across the country. Stefani Shamrowicz had more than a month off from her job at a campus recreation center and decided to spend it cleaning up the environment.

She drove for more than 70 hours driving through 12 states from Colorado to Florida to New York and cleaned up litter all along the way. After 23 days of picking up garbage, the 24-year-old had filled 126 bags. She says about 80% of what she found was drinking bottles, and face masks and fast food toys were common as well.

“There’s litter everywhere, so I’m just happy to be able to make a little bit of an impact everywhere I go,” Stefani says. “I’ve been to 23 national parks, so me cleaning up this litter is a huge thank you for all the joy and good times the national parks and nature in general has brought to my life.”
