Some drivers in Denver, Colorado, may be in for a surprise when they get pulled over. Police in the Mile High City are promoting driver safety with a new program and it’s bound to be a hit with residents.

Instead of giving out tickets, the police department will be handing out gift cards when someone is pulled over for a broken tail light or headlight, in certain situations. The $25 gift cards are to Advance Auto Parts, so drivers can get their lights repaired.

“Working together is how we create stronger communities,” explains Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen, “and stronger communities are safer communities.”
