Colorado Town Threatening Up to a Year in Jail for not Wearing a Mask

The city of Englewood, Colorado, a suburb of Denver, is requiring all of its residents to wear face masks, and violators could face up to a year behind bars, and/or a hefty fine.

The emergency order, issued by the City Manager, and approved by the city council Monday, went into effect Thursday (July 9th). It states that everyone over the age of 6 will be required to wear a mask while outside their homes.

First offenders will be ticketed with a $15 fine, and second and subsequent offenders will have to shell out $25.

However, the order states that the maximum penalty is a fine of up to $2,650, 360 days behind bars or both.
