Colorado Bakery Customer Tips Every Worker $200 Because 'COVID Sucks'

After enjoying a big breakfast at a Colorado eatery, a generous customer left a huge tip. But the patron, identified only as David, didn’t just treat his server to some extra cash, he was looking out for the entire staff.

Notchtop Bakery & Cafe owner Nailya Khametvalieva says David came in for bacon, eggs and biscuits and gravy and when it was time to pay, he asked his server how many people were working that day. He ended up leaving a $14-hundred tip on a bill for $20.04 and he wrote instructions for $200 to be given to each of the seven employees working that shift. And he wrote “COVID sucks!” across the top of the bill.

“That brought truly tears to all the servers and cooks - you know, nobody ever thinks of cooks - the cooks were just so surprised and shocked,” the cafe owner says. “We did thank him, but I felt like we didn’t do it enough.”
