THE LIST: 5 Things You Can Do If You're Feeling Burned Out by the Pandemic

We're approaching the one-year mark when all of our lives changed due to the pandemic. If you've been feeling especially burned out lately, here are five things that might help . . .

1. Pinpoint the cause. For instance, maybe being isolated from your friends or being stuck in your tiny apartment for months on end is really wearing on you. Or maybe it's trying to work from home while taking care of your kids. Once you have a sense of what's causing the burnout, you can take steps to improve it.

2. Shake up your routine. We all had to find new routines when the pandemic hit, and now that routine might be feeling stale. So try to incorporate some small changes. Like if you always make coffee at home, try going to a coffee shop once a week.

3. Incorporate more enjoyment into your life. If doesn't have to be something big . . . just talking a longer and warmer shower in the morning could be enough to get your day started in a more enjoyable way.

4. Make plans for the future. Now that the vaccines are here, there's finally some light at the end of the tunnel. And even though things aren't back to normal yet, we can start thinking about and planning for what we'll do when it's safe again.

5. Get some rest. And that means more than just getting extra sleep. It might mean taking a rest from screens and devices. Or trying yoga or meditation. Anything that helps you unwind and relax.
