Here is LIFE COURT...
Scott and Sadie,
My wife and I have come to the very difficult decision that it is time to say goodbye to our dog. He can barely walk, he's riddled with cancer, and has become incontinent.
My wife has never has only had to put an animal down once before. I told her that it's only right that we stay with our pet while the vet administers the drugs and goes to sleep. She thinks that is horrible and that we should say our goodbyes and let the vet take her and "do the job in the back room."
Frankly, I think that's mean and it's causing a bit of a fight between us. This dog has given us so much love, the least we can do is stay with him in his final moments.
I know it's a delicate and personal situation, but in Life Court, maybe your listeners can offer their advice. I'd especially be interested in hearing from people who have done it both ways. Are you glad or upset that you stayed with your pet in their final moments?
Thanks - please keep us anonymous.
Tough situation. What's your advice for anonymous in Scott and Sadie's Life Court?
