Millions of people have spent much of their last few days staring at a computer awaiting the arrival of a baby giraffe in New York, and still nothing. However, there was one born in Denver last night and pretty much no one knew.
The birth came as a surprise because the Denver Zoo has a policy of not announcing when its animals are expecting.
Dobby is the baby's name, and both mama and baby are doing well.
Officials did say that the pregnancy was unplanned, and that "zookeepers suspected she might be pregnant, despite birth control, because her stomach and udder were becoming larger."
A welcomed surprise indeed...
