Shawn Patrick Plays with the Harlem Globetrotters

The legendary Harlem Globetrotters were in Loveland yesterday afternoon and they asked me to be a "celebrity guest player." Even though it's been years since I touched a basketball, I agreed.

The experience turned into a very memorable one. For the entire first half of the game, I was treated as though I was a regular member of the team. From introductions, to games they played during breaks, I got to be involved in all of it.

Then at the start of the second quarter I got my chance to play. Before the game they told me that on the first two plays I just needed to get open, they would find me and I could shoot. So I did, and I missed both shots, but I got the rebound the second time and made a layup. The third possession was a set play they taught me to set me up for a layup. I followed directions and was able to score again.

That was it for my playing time, ending up making two of four shots for four points and a rebound. Not too shabby for my first professional basketball game.

Maybe best of all, the Globetrotters won by just two points, so my four points were rather valuable. HAHA!

Thanks to everyone who came out and watched and cheered me on.
