Millions of people around the world are anxiously awaiting the birth of a baby giraffe in New Jersey, and here in Colorado we just keep popping out all kinds of new babies under the radar. Like the kea chick (that’s a large, vulnerable species of parrot) that's the first ever of her kind hatched at the Denver Zoo.
Scarlet was hatched Feb. 8, and she’s one of only 38 keas in North America zoos.
As a baby keas are fluffy and grey, but their feathers will eventually be mainly olive-green, except for the bright, reddish-orange coloring under their wings.
