During the ninth inning of a spring training game between the Padres and Rockies on Thursday, a swarm of bees congregated on the field, forcing several players—-including the pitcher and batter—to hit the deck in order to avoid being stung.
“All the players got on the ground,” Padres manager Bud Black said. “It was reminiscent of Petco Park a few years ago,” he added, referring to a similar swarm at the Padres’ home ballpark in San Diego.
