It’s been about seven months since the general public was allowed to drive on Highway 34 through the Thompson Canyon between Loveland and Estes Park, but there will be a brief window for you to make the trip this weekend for Easter.
From 4 p.m. Saturday to 8:30 a.m. Monday, single-direction pilot cars will lead traffic through the area. The road leads to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.
It has been closed all winter as CDOT's contractor works to make the road and its bridges more resistant to flood damage. The road will reopen to the public just before Memorial Day.
