While the world waited for and talked about April's baby giraffe the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs quietly welcomed a baby giraffe of their own. That baby finally got a name today.
The 199th baby giraffe in the zoo's history was born April 26th, but the zoo waits 30 days to name the babies... And doesn't let the internet get a vote.
Today they announced the name is Rae, after Rae Gamble, a 99-year-old world traveler with a heart for animals. The name also has a double meaning as the calf has been "a ray of sunshine since her arrival."
