Could the Colorado Eagles Become the Avalanche AHL Affiliate?

Fresh off of winning the biggest prize in double A hockey, the Kelly Cup, the Colorado Eagles could have their eyes on a bigger prize! 

In an article in the Denver Post today the possibility of moving up a level to triple A hockey in the American Hockey League (AHL) was discussed;

The Avalanche might move its primary minor-league interests from San Antonio to less than an hour drive north of Denver, to Loveland, joining forces with the highly successful Colorado Eagles, who could become the Avs’ American Hockey League affiliate as early as 2018-19.

In the article's interview with general manager Chris Stewart different scenarios were discussed as well as all the obstacles that would stand in the way.
