Move over zythum, there’s a new word at the end of the Oxford English Dictionary!
That word would be “Zyzzyva,” which, according to an Oxford University Press blog post, is “the name of a genus of tropical weevils native to South America and typically found on or near palm trees.” (For what it’s worth, zythum is an ancient Egyptian malt beer.)
Zyzzyva is pronounced “zih-zih-vah,” and as The Washington Post notes, is worth 43 points on a Scrabble board.
