CSU Named One of the Best College Football Team & Alcohol Pairings

Earlier this week, the University of Texas announced a partnership with Corona wherein the Mexican lager would become the Longhorns' official beer. That news landed with a thud in the Lone Star State, compelling Sports Illustrated to come up with a lengthy list of the best college football and alcohol pairings.

And of course, our town known for it's beer and it's football team made the top three:

  1. Arkansas: The Walmart. This concoction, which mixes a White Russian and Diet Coke, isn’t on the menu at Theo’s in Fayetteville, but they’ll make it for you if you ask.
  2. Clemson: Palmetto Moonshine. Pick up some of this wonderful stuff on the road into Clemson from Interstate 85. Get the Apple Pie flavor, designate a driver and then hit the Smokin’ Pig in Pendleton, S.C., for barbecue. Eventually, you’ll make it to Death Valley.
  3. Colorado State: Fat Tire. Fort Collins is one of America’s beer capitals, and this New Belgium offering is the brew that put it on the map.
  4. Kansas State: The Nancy. This local delicacy mixes Old Milwaukee and pineapple juice to devastating effect. This may require a side deal with Little Apple-favorite Varsity Donuts. In Aggieville, the Varsity truck is the most common next stop after a few too many Nancys at the So Long Saloon.
  5. Kentucky: Woodford Reserve. There are so many excellent bourbons from which to choose, but some of the best mass-production bourbon is made one county over from Lexington.
