Truck Spills 41,000 Pounds of Watermelon on Colorado Highway

If you cannot find watermelon in Colorado stores for awhile, there is a pretty good reason for it.

A tractor-trailer caught fire on US-285 near C-470 in Colorado on Tuesday. Overheated brakes were the cause of the blaze, which charred and spilled the truck’s load of 41,000 pounds of watermelon.

Thankfully, the driver emerged safely from his cab, while traffic was held up for several hours as a crew cleared the singed fruit off the road.
