Colorado Cops Are Having to Remind People Not to Take Selfies with Bears

The police department in Aspen, Colorado, is asking folks to stop trying to take selfies with members of the local bear population after cops had to remove an entire family of bears from a tree in a downtown pedestrian mall.

"These bears went through quite an ordeal last night," the department wrote Thursday on Facebook. "We're not quite sure why...but we do know one thing: We could do a better job as a community to set these bears up for success." They added, "Continued crowds and pressure on the bears forced us to take the next step...Join the #AspenBearsSelfieStrike to show your support for our bears and to encourage others to do the same."

I cannot believe we as a society are to the point that we have to be reminded not to take selfies with bears... Welcome to 2017!
