Olympic Freestyle Skier Does No Tricks, Gets Last Place, Wins the Internet

I have watched a lot of the Olympics this year, and hands down my favorite moment came yesterday.

Freestyle skier Elizabeth Swaney came in dead last in the halfpipe qualifying event with a performance so thoroughly average that it's instantly made her a viral star.

Deadspin notes that "the 33-year-old American has been freestyle skiing since 2013 with the single-minded goal of making it to the Olympics," while Reuters adds that Swaney is also "a Harvard graduate who once ran against Arnold Schwarzenegger in the race to be California governor."

Because she's not good enough to qualify for the U.S. team, Swaney is representing Hungary in Pyeongchang thanks to her grandparents' Hungarian ancestry. “I’m just trying to do the best for myself and represent Hungary as best as I can,” she told The Denver Post before competing. “I really hope to inspire others in Hungary to take up freestyle skiing."

No tricks were performed, no medals were won, but Swaney found a way to live out her dream... Kudos!!
