Carrie Underwood Shares New Selfie Following Her Dangerous 2017 Injury

Carrie Underwood is slowly but surely feeling comfortable in her own skin after the country titan suffered a broken wrist and endured 40 to 50 stitches after her 2017 injury outside of her Nashville home. Now, the former American Idol alum has offered fans with her first selfie of the 2018 year.

On Friday (February 23), the 34-year-old singer hopped on Instagram to share a black and white selfie alongside her husband Mike Fisher and it gives fans a partial look at her post-surgery face. "Together, we're in it to end it!" she wrote in the caption of the shot that covers half of her face. "Help us shine a light on modern day slavery. @enditmovement #enditmovement."

Even though a photo of her surfaced with a fan some time ago, this offers a closer look at the results to the surgery that the star needed after her incident. Underwood's fall made headlines because it landed her in the hospital, caused her to bail on the Country Rising concert and even required some surgical work that altered her look. "In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well," she wrote in a post on her fan club website on New Years Day. "I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [Fisher] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in."

"Now, here we are 7 weeks later and, even though I've had the best people helping me, I'm still healing and not quite looking the same," the star said. "I honestly don't know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful. I am grateful that it wasn't much, much worse." Underwood's new post comes after she shared a selfie at the end of 2017 covering her mouth and just a few weeks after she shared the X-rays from the incident.
