Peyton Manning Could Be the Front-Runner to for Monday Night Football Gig

Peyton Manning is well-spoken and witty, but does that mean he'd be a good broadcaster? If ESPN has their way, we may soon find out!

Rumors are circling that the former Broncos QB is the guy the network wants to replace Jason Witten, after he left the booth to return to play for the Dallas Cowboys next year.

According to Andrew Marchandof the New York Post, the network will make the "requisite inquiry" to Manning about his availability, noting that it would be willing to top the $6.5 million paid to Jon Gruden in the past. He has also spent more time at ESPN after working on the show Detailon ESPN+.

However, Marchand noted that "the expectation is Manning will stay on the sidelines."

I kind of hope he does, just in case he is a horrible TV guy like Phil Simms. I loved Phil as a player, but all I think of now is how bad he was on TV. I don't want that for Peyton!
