2 Arkansas Men Take Turns Wearing Bulletproof Vest, Shooting Each Other

Last week my kids were on spring break, so we took them to see my wife's family in Arkansas. While we were there, this happened...

Call it a game of Arkansas roulette: Two men were arrested Monday after they took turns shooting each other while wearing a bulletproof vest.

The whole thing started when 50-year-old Charles Eugene Ferris and 36-year-old Christopher Hicks got drunk on the deck of Ferris' house in Benton County on Sunday. Ferris, who was wearing a bullet-resistant vest, told Hicks to shoot him with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle, but got mad about how much it hurt once Hicks did so.

Then Hicks put on the vest and Ferris, still angry about being shot, reportedly "unloaded the clip" by shooting the remaining five rounds into Hicks' back.

Ferris later went to the hospital at his wife's suggestion and told authorities he got shot while protecting a man he called his "asset," but soon admitted he made that up because he didn't want to get his neighbor into trouble.

Ferris and Hicks have since been charged with aggravated assault.

Now my wife knows why I don't want to move there!
