There's a Chris Gaines Fan Fest Being Planned

Back in 1999, at the peak of his fame, Garth Brooks unveiled his soul-patched, mop-topped, sex-addicted, pop-star alter ego, Chris Gaines. Brooks convinced VH1 to do a real Behind the Music on Gaines, and "his" lone album went double platinum.

But country fans and critics alike considered Gaines to be an embarrassment, so the alter ego was quickly shelved.

But now, reports The Tennessean, it's being revived in the form of Gainesfest, a one-night fan fest being planned for September 28 at The Cobra in East Nashville.

The free event, which falls on the 20th anniversary of the release of the album Garth Brooks in...the Life of Chris Gaines, will feature a tribute band, a Gaines lookalike contest and Gaines-inspired art for sale.
