Colorado is known for hail. In fact we are one of the worst states there is for hail damage according to insurance agencies. But this is just crazy...
The largest documented hail in the state was 4.5 inches in diameter. It's been recorded 20 times. WAS being the keyword here!
There are reports of hail larger than that in Otis, but no photos have yet surfaced proving those claims. Most of the hailstones weren't measured.
However, a photo has surfaced of a hailstone more than 5 inches in diameter from a storm in Bethune, Colorado. If confirmed, it would be the largest hailstone ever recorded in the state.
A bowling ball is only 8.5 inches in diameter, if that tells you anything!!!
