Bronco Defenseman Adam Grostis Raising Money For Australia

We've all seen the horrible pictures coming out of Australia. Massive brushfires have sent humans and animals, alike, fleeing for safety.

Denver Broncos' defensive end Adam Gotsis is from Australia, and he just could not sit while his homeland burned.

“It’s devastating,” Gotsis said in an interview with Ben Swanson and published at DenverBroncos.com. “We’ve got such a beautiful country, beautiful land, animals, all that stuff — and for it to be ripped apart by these fires is pretty devastating, just to see all those communities out there, rural Victoria, New South Wales, destroyed, it’s tough. It’s tough because we don’t have a lot of help.”

Gostis' hometown of Melbourne has been hit hard. The brushfires have burned an estimated 26 million acres and caused the deaths of 27 people and an estimated one billion animals.

As a native Australian, Gotsis has launched Green and Gold Unite and Auction for Australia.

Gotsis wants to use the platform given to him as a professional football player to help the folks in his homeland. He is encouraging fundraising through bids on Broncos memorabilia and simple donations, too.
