A World Record for the Biggest Firework Was Set This Weekend in Colorado

I must eat a little crow. Last week I was poking fun of this world record attempt for being extremely dangerous, and unlikely to be completed... Well, I was wrong, and congrats to the team to the pulled it off!

During Saturday's Winter Carnival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, event organizers shot a 2,800-pound firework some 2,200 feet into the sky, setting a Guinness World Record for largest aerial firework.

The Steamboat Pilot reports that the massive pyrotechnic display turned the sky above the ski resort bright red and drew gasps of amazement from the crowd.
