CASA of Larimer County provides volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) to children who have experienced abuse or neglect. The CASA acts as a mentor and friend to these children, and represents the child's interests in court to help inform where the child is placed permanently. The majority of these children are involved in the foster care system. In 2019, CASA of Larimer provided a CASA volunteer to 318 of the 600 children who experienced abuse or neglect in Larimer County.
CASA is growing rapidly, and the Light of Hope Breakfast is CASA of Larimer County's only fundraising event and biggest volunteer recruitment event of the year. The breakfast features a powerful keynote speaker who suffered child abuse and overcame the odds, breaking the cycle of abuse because of her advocates.
