Nearly 40 of Joe Exotic's Tigers are in Colorado

By now pretty much all of America has seen Netflix's "Tiger king" documentary, but did you know there's a Colorado connection?

The Wild Animal Sanctuary which is in Keenesburg, Colorado, was able to rescue 39 tigers and 3 bears from the Greater Wynnewood (G.W.) Exotic Animal Park in Oklahoma when things got sideways for Joe Exotic.

“It was super overcrowded and running out of food,” Wild Animal Sanctuary Executive Director Pat Craig told 9News, adding that he met Exotic and needed armed security guards with him during the 2017 rescue of some of the tigers.

Like most businesses and organizations, Craig said the economic impacts of COVID-19 has hit the Wild Animal Sanctuary hard. You can learn more about them, and help in these tough times by visiting WildAnimalSanctuary.org.
