A stay-at-home order didn’t stop cops in Colorado from helping Susie Montoya celebrate her 102nd birthday. The Arvada Police Department supported a local business by ordering cherry pies from a local bakery and delivered them with care.
Detective Dave Snelling took the pies to the crime lab and cleaned them with disinfecting wipes while wearing a mask and gloves. Then he arranged for Arvada firefighters to oversee the delivery, which they did while holding big gold balloons with her age.
The pies were brought to the birthday gal while maintaining their distance and using proper procedures to keep the family safe. Montoya watched from her upstairs window as they sang “Happy Birthday” from the street and Detective Snelling officially declared it “Susie Monotya Day.”
