A Colorado News Reporter Saves a Child’s Life with a Bone Marrow Donation

When given the chance to save a life, it's good to know there are people right here in our neck of the woods who'll jump at the chance!

About a year ago, a Colorado Springs news reporter, Megan Hiler, did a swab to be added to the national Bone Marrow Registry. She recently got a call that she’s a perfect match for an 8-year-old with an incredibly rare blood disease. She didn’t hesitate and flew to Chicago to donate her bone marrow to save this stranger’s life.

Hiler is recovering, and has been told the boy received her bone marrow donation, beginning a whole new chapter in his life.
