Legendary Greeley Business Owner Passes Away at 87

Although you may not have known him, if you've lived in Northern Colorado for any length of time, you've likely visited his business. Since it opened in 1992, Highland Park Lanes has been one of the go to places for entertainment in the area. You can thank Ed Deines for all the memories you, your friends and families have created there. Sadly, Mr. Deines passed away at 87 this week.

Those familiar with Greeley's history will remember Bowlarado Lanes on 10th Street, where you'll find a FedEx Store and the Wonderful Inn Chinese Restaurant today. Mr. Deines purchased that bowling alley in the late 70's, and then was the driving force behind moving the business to a new state of the art bowling center, Highland Park Lanes, o Greeley's west side. He was also responsible for one of the areas newest liquor stores, Highland Park Liquors, which opened on the same property just a few years ago.

From a fun weekend out, to a kids birthday party, leagues, tournaments, Christmas parties, charity events, and the list goes on, Mr. Deines' businesses have been the host to ten of thousands of happy customers in now fifty plus years in Greeley.

Although Mr. Deines was still heavily active in the businesses until his passing, his family has been involved in the day-to-day operations for many years now, and will carry on the torch by continuing to run them.

Memorial services will be postponed until a later date due to the Covid restrictions.

Thanks for the memories, Mr. Deines!
