We hear a lot of stories about servers getting a huge tip from a generous customer, but this time, a family wanted their tip to go to the entire restaurant staff. Vin48, a restaurant in Avon, Colorado, received a $2,021 tip from a family with a request to split it in a specific way: $1,100 to split among kitchen staff and $900 to share between wait staff and hosts.
The family of three - who asked to remain anonymous - left the generous gratuity on a $300 tab and a note that reads, “Great vibe and great service. Happy New Year!” They had never been to Vin48 before, but Carly Dierolf, who waited on them, says they were interested in how the restaurant has been doing because of the pandemic.
"It was really nice especially for the kitchen to be recognized for all of their hard work, in creating all of those dishes," the server says. "We servers are constantly getting tipped for our service and the back of the house doesn’t get tipped for their hard work. It was great to see all the guys be so happy about it."
