The pandemic has been tough on everyone, but it’s been especially hard on restaurant workers. As host of Food Network’s “Diners Drive-ins and Dives,” Guy Fieri has met tons of them and he’s been pitching in to help them when they need it most.

He joined the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, which has raised close to $25-million to help people in the industry he’s been working in all his life. The fund has given $500 grants to 43-thousand restaurant workers so far, 60% of the recipients have been women and 50% are people of color.

“So many people work in the restaurant industry in multiple jobs, second jobs, single moms, single parents, students, retirees. And the restaurant industry is massively important to our communities,” Fieri says. “And so, when I saw this coming, I said, ‘We got to do something to get some money to these folks.”
