GOOD VIBES - 6th Grader Uses Business Money To Help Kids Buy School Lunches

Every weekday Shawn Patrick sheds some light on some good news with His Good Vibes Story. Here is today's...

A sixth grader in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, caught the baking bug during the pandemic and now she’s using her skills to help her fellow students in need. Keena Schroeder is affectionately known as “Bug” to friends and family and started a cheesecake business called “Bug’s Bakery.”

She’s been busy in the kitchen and business is good, so she and her dad started thinking of ways she could use the money she’s earning. Keena decided to donate $5 from the sale of each cheesecake to her school district’s Hunger Hero campaign. It’s a program that helps to pay down student lunch account balances.

Keena has already raised $1,000 for the cause and presented a check to the school board this week. She says she’ll keep baking cheesecakes as long as people keep wanting to buy them.
