A Texas teen is using his “Make-A-Wish” to help other young patients while they’re in the hospital. Instead of going on a trip or having a cool experience of his choice, the student at Littlefield High School in Lubbock is donating his wish to Covenant Children’s Hospital.
The school’s student body raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation every year, but student body president, Dylon Redmon, says they pushed a little harder this year when they found out one of their own was on the receiving end. The school’s fundraisers brought in $9-thousand, which they donated to the Covenant Health Foundation. Covenant Children’s partners with the foundation to give wishes to patients with life-threatening illnesses.
By paying his wish forward, the student will help improve the hospital stay for other young patients who have to be hospitalized. Child life specialist Kathryn Pylant says the donation will be used for things like buying crafts and bringing in food from outside restaurants. She says she’s not surprised by the selfless actions of this teen, adding, “He’s just a wonderful young man.”
