Buyer beware with friends? You decide in Scott and Sadie's Life Court.

Here's FRIDAY'S Life Court...

Scott and Sadie,

Can Life Court settle a dispute for a friend and me before things get carried away? I've been in a bad situation money-wise for quite a while. I just can't seem to catch a break. I've been trying to save as much as I can for a beater car just to get me around locally.

A friend of mine mentioned he was selling his old Ford Taurus for only $1,000... He warned me it would need brakes and a couple other little things. I was mostly worried about the high miles, 217,000. But he said that, while it's old, it never lets him down. So I decided to take the gamble.

I drove it all of three weeks when the engine blew. The cost to get a new engine is way more than I paid for the car! I called him up really upset and he was all cold and said, "I warned you it was old."

Am I wrong in thinking that a true friend would have tried to make good by maybe giving me something like half my money back? When you think about it, I ended up saving HIM! What do your listeners think?
