Some kindhearted cops in Chicago just made summer better for a group of neighborhood kids. After seeing them playing basketball with a milk crate for a hoop, officers from the Chicago Police Department’s 6th District pitched in to give them an upgrade.

“The officers saw an opportunity to help the kids with their game,” tweeted Chicago Police Superintendent David O. Brown. “So they got together to buy them a new hoop and basketballs.”

He shared a video showing two uniformed officers carrying a box with the new hoop and a little boy yelling, “Thank you!” when he saw it. A group of at least nine officers delivered the new set, read the directions and assembled it and even stuck around to shoot some hoops with the kids. Brown posted another video to twitter showing the cops playing ball with the kids, writing, “Not only did this make the kids happy, but it made my day too.”
