While some businesses struggled through the pandemic, some did well. Among those thriving is Heavenly Pizza in Findlay, Ohio. Owner Josh Elchert knows his staff is the backbone of the palace so he did something special.
Last Monday, he had an employee appreciation day. Elchert says "You can have the best pizza in the world. If you have no one here to make it, it doesn't matter." So, he gave the entire day’s profits to his workers. That added up to about $78 an hour for the day for each staffer.
The employees were surprised. Five year worker Timmy Lemire shared "That kind of giving nature is why this place runs so well, works so well.”
Of course, the customers were a big part of it, since the profits were about double what they usually are for the day!
