The CDC has updated its mask policy to recommend that everyone, including those who are vaccinated, wear masks in places with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission rates.

Rates are currently high in two-thirds of the United States.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said "This new science is worrisome and unfortunately warrants an update to our recommendations. This is not a decision that we or CDC has made lightly."
