Some Delta Airlines crew members are being praised for going above and beyond for a group of kids fleeing Afghanistan. Flight attendants on an emergency flight out of Germany personally paid for items for the young passengers the night before the trip, according to pilot Alexander Kahn.

“Spending their own money, they purchased diapers and wipes and candy and balloons and coloring books and other things they knew the evacuees were going to need,” he recalls.

Khan says the pilots offered to pay the flight attendants back for their generous gesture, but they refused to take any money from them. He says the crew knew the evacuees had no chance to prepare and bring things for the international flight and commends the flight attendants for their “incredibly professional” attitude and “exemplary service” during the flight.
