Carly Pearce shared a video of the moment she called her mom to tell her that she’d won a Grammy Award, and it was too sweet.

Pearce and Ashley McBryde made history when they took home the award for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their smash-hit heartbreak ballad, ā€œNever Wanted To Be That Girl.ā€ The emotional duet was one of many fan-favorites on Pearce’s 15-track album, 29: Written in Stone, which released in September 2021. It was the first time that two women have been winners in the category.

Pearce said she was ā€œstill speechlessā€ on Monday (February 6), one day after the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, as she shared a clip of the call she shared with her mom on TikTok.

ā€œHi! Are you watching stuff? Did you know I just won?ā€ Pearce said on the call, as her mom can be heard excitedly congratulating her superstar daughter. ā€œI just won! I just won!ā€

Pearce shares a close bond with her mom, who ā€œhelped to make every one of my dreams true,ā€ the award-winning artist previously wrote in an Instagram caption, as she performed a sold-out show at the venue where she and her mom often attended as fans while she was growing up. It was ā€œso special having her with me last night as I played the venue she always told me I would one day! šŸ„²ā™„ļøā€

The 29: Written in Stone artist has reflected on other meaningful conversations with her mom, including when she wrote her latest radio single, ā€œWhat He Didn’t Do.ā€ Pearce previously shared that on the day she wrote the song, ā€œI called my mom when I left the write to read her the lyrics. I knew it was special.ā€
