As my family was preparing to trick-or-treat last night, we got our buckets out that we used the year before. They were still filled to the brim with candy from the year before. So this year I vowed to make sure all the candy goes to good use.
There are a number of organizations that are more than willing to take that candy off your hands, and get it in the hands of people who are either less fortunate or maybe were out of the country defending our freedom and too busy to trick-or-treat.
One of these organizations is Operation Gratitude. This is a national organization that puts together care packages for military service members, veterans, wounded soldiers, military children and others.
Last year, donations of Halloween candy totaled more than 533,000 pounds. Let's beat that this year!
