The AP reports that Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch, who hasn't stood for "The Star-Spangled Banner" since coming back from retirement this season, did stand for the Mexican national anthem, as the game--which the Raiders lost to the Patriots--was held at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
Many reporters, even those who have expressed that they don't mind players kneeling for the anthem, have said that this crossed the line.
Donald Trump took to Twitter to call for the suspension of Marshawn Lynch after the Oakland Raiders running back sat for the national anthem before his team's game against the New England Patriots on Sunday. "Great disrespect!" Trump wrote. "Next time NFL should suspend him for remainder of season. Attendance and ratings way down!"
