There is a national day for everything, so if I were to write about all of them, I'd bore you to death. However, today's National Root Beer Float Day is important because it all started right here in Colorado!!
125 years ago in Cripple Creek, CO, a gold mine and tavern owner, Frank Wisner, looked up at a nearby snowy peak in the Rockies and was inspired to toss a dollop of ice cream into a serving of root beer.
Turns out the combo is AMAZING!!
P.S. A&W Restaurants is serving free small root beer floats from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at many of its 630 locations across the U.S. As a part of the celebration.
